here is the second part of my little rap I made…I finally got around to finishing it…its a good one but ya know you always have something opposite me to say anyways so whatever…peace and read Swagger is coming soon, just another week and I’ll be able to push the rock off the hill…or so they say…

the need to overcome

Since Swagger is officially “All Swaggered Out” until January 5th I suppose I might take this chance to expand on other such topics. Perhaps this is a great time to start interviewing the best dancer at Lakewood Ranch, D-Marco and see what he thinks of Swagger and such. But for this post I think I’m going to just talk about something else for right now.

It has come to my attention that there is nothing to do in Bradenton, and if there is we’ve already done it before. Why is it that we got stuck in this stupid town to begin with???

What the hell do people do in this for fun? I can’t think of anything to do that is remotely close to having fun, and I’m not talking about going to the movies every freakin friday. I’m kinda sick of that. Sick of the stupid ass parties that you people have.

You all suck at throwing parties and personally if I were given a chance to hold a party, I’d blow yall’s parties so far out the water you’ll want more. I’d have all the drinks and food you could ever imagine and the music would be banging, the girls, the girls will be dancing and then well you know. But still, I can’t complain, not just yet. I mean we could go to Sarasota for a club but then again you have to be a certain age so fuck that. Teen nights for nightclubs seem to be scarce to little to none.

Got dammit, I swear even if there were things to do in this dumbass old people’s town you’d need a fucking car to get there, its not like any other town where you don’t have to come out of the boonies to go to publix for food. Any other town, you could walk places, any other town you can do whatever the fuck you want. Any other town, you wouldn’t be bored all the freakin time!

But whatever, once Swagger gets going I’m hoping it will bring something good to this damn town, well at least until I leave, just fuckin tired of being bored all day long.

I’m sure you all have the same routine, get up, go to school, come home and or go to work, do homework, then sleep…REPEAT!!!!

Just tired of the routine. Tired of the damn same thing all week.

Enough of the rant though, but I mean come on though, who all is fed up with this place? Whoever isn’t fed up obviously needs to reevaluate themselves because this place is:

Hey everyone, thought I’d just keep you updated with Swagger today.

Unfortunately for me I was unable to get to Mr. Wooten’s office today as my American Government test was a little longer then expected…

So I did talk to him after school and even though I missed what we were supposed to talk about we did discuss things that will be done once we all return to school January 5th.

I don’t want to wait that long but, well, I don’t have a choice. For the next few weeks I will be busting my ass constantly and consistently bringing newer ideas for Swagger and getting Swagger to its premiere date.

You all must be wanting to know when I want to premiere it? Oh, I’ll tell you in my blog. Just not now, as soon as I know I’m going to have that date to premiere it.

I will tell you it will be in January though.

As for now, I’m going to get things in order for the first day back from break. Once back I will be talking to Dr. Zellers and other teachers who have possible sponsorship material that I need to get Swagger running.

So, lets get down to it today, when I first came up with this idea it was way back in October. I think I was at one of my school’s homecoming activities and I was just thinking how cool it would be if Lakewood Ranch had their own dance competition and I put the idea to work. Once I come up with an idea, I just don’t let it rest or sleep, I get down to work on it and don’t stop until I fulfill it or I get bored, either way.

Anyways, I got down to work, grabbed a few people and let them in on the idea and they liked it. Once I got some support I started putting a myspace together, once the myspace was completed I was left with advertising.

Advertising for me is like putting a show on at Carnegie Hall. You gotta show something hot and something that is catchy with all viewers not just your target audience or segmented marketing areas. You have to reach all people and not just on race or color or background too. In other words, I expand my range of targets and just make sure it hits home for them.

Thats what I did, I made a hot video of my friend who dances and put in a few slides of the name of the dance off, where it will be held and such and such. It was a good video, none the less I made a newer one a few weeks later and it just killed. Everyone watched it, everyone loved it, even people in their 30’s and 50’s loved it.

I uploaded it on youtube and still to this day and future people will watch it. I sometimes can’t help but watch it just because I can’t believe I did it.

Ok, enough credit to myself now. So far in the month of November I was able to produce and edit 2 Swagger It Out videos and upload them for the general public.

I believe it wasn’t till the end of November, I think the week before Thanksgiving break I started talking to Mr. Wooten at the school about getting Swagger started, shown him the video of my boy D-Marco a.k.a. D and said he liked it a lot and it was awesome.

So eventually he had me make a powerpoint to list out all the things of Swagger and to just make sure “all my T’s were crossed and my I’s dotted” so that everything was perfect and not amatuer, don’t think I am but whatever I did it anyways.

Turns out it was a big success, Wooten is still looking it over as I’m writing this and I’m going to talk to him about it tomorrow.

Things are coming along with Swagger as you can see but its just time, and well all you guys and girls who are waiting to dance are just going to have to wait a little bit longer. I’m sorry but I have no other way of getting around this.

I’m going as fast as I can and I appreciate everyone’s help.

Next blog will discuss mine and Wooten’s plans so whatever we talk about I’ll write down here for you all.

So to finish up for the rules I’m going to write a few down for the audience:

1. As part of the audience you are allowed to make noise for dancers and cheer them on

2. Booing will be allowed at the end of each dance off not during

3. As an audience member you will be asked to help decide which dancer goes on to the next round

4. There will be no member of the audience up and walking about around the judging areas or stage, this also includes being backstage, unless you are given permission by me.

5.  Since Swagger promotes bringing everybody together we won’t have you sit with your schools section, you can sit wherever and with whoever.

6. Meet some new people there, go ahead make some new connects and bring Swagger to a whole new level!

7. Fighting will not be tolerated at all as well as anything that can lead to a fight or anything else. If found to have caused a fight or attempted to start one, you shall be escorted out and banned from attending Swagger It Out.

Alright guys, next time I’ll have more info on how I’m bringing Swagger It Out to the administrators, or in this case how I’m getting Swagger started at school

So in following the rules for the dancers, let’s embark onto the rules of a judge.

1. Judges shall grade dancers based on technique, the difficulty of the dance, their speed/tempo to the song

2. No judge shall grade based on who the person is

3. Judging will be fair throughout till the last round

4. Judges will not be swayed by bribes

5. Corrupt judges will not be tolerated

6. All judges will be present 15 mins before the dance off starts to make sure everything is in order

7. If a judge cannot make it then they must call 3 days in advance so that a replacement can be found within time

8. All judges will not use curse words to describe the dancers, although criticizing will be necessary.

9. Once the judges have given their opinions they will then vote on the winner for that round.

Next time will be rules for the audience members.

Yea I know there are rules for the audience; well we want to make sure they aren’t left out of everything!

Swagger It Out is a dance competition in the Bradenton, Florida area that brings in all the dancers from all over the area to compete for the title of the Swagger King.

A little history of Swagger It Out, it was an idea formed about 2 months ago after I was watching a little dance competition in the area…real small time dance competition, barely brought in any good dancers except for 2. Now that idea grew into something I wanted to get going at the school since there isn’t much to do anywhere in this stupid town for us teenagers.

Now I’d like to remind you that this Swagger contest has still not happened yet, so unfortunately I’m still pushing the car from behind instead of driving it down the road…

So this Swagger It Out contest, once started, should bring something new to Lakewood Ranch and give everyone around here something to do each week!

So in future posts I’ll go into more in-depth action as to what I’ve been doing behind the scenes to promote and get this Swagger contest going!

Rules of Swagger It Out

LISTED BELOW ARE CURRENT RULES SANCTIONED FOR DANCERS, JUDGES, AND THE AUDIENCE THAT WILL BE IN USE DURING EACH SWAGGER IT OUT DANCE OFF.

THESE RULES WILL BE FOLLOWED BY EVERYONE IN ATTENDANCE AND IF BROKEN BY ANY DANCER WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE ELIMINATION.

RULES FOR SWAGGER IT OUT DANCERS:

1. DANCERS WILL ARRIVE ON TIME TO GO OVER THE RULES

2. WHILE BACKSTAGE, DANCERS WILL REMAIN QUIET AS THEY WATCH THE DANCE OFF

3. THERE WILL BE NO FIGHTING BACKSTAGE AND OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE TO ANYONE INCLUDING THE JUDGES WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

4. IF ELIMINATED THE DANCER WILL LEAVE AND GO SIT IN THE SWAGGER ELIMINATION AREA OUT FRONT AND MAY CONTINUE TO WATCH THE REST OR LEAVE.

5. AFTER EACH DANCE MATCH UP THERE WILL BE A SIGN OF RESPECT SHOWN TO EACH OTHER.

6. NO DESTROYING OF ANYTHING BACKSTAGE

7. SEATS WILL BE PROVIDED FOR DANCERS TO SIT IN AND WATCH THE SHOW WHILE THEY WAIT TO DANCE. SO IN OTHER WORDS THERE WILL BE NO GETTING UP AND WALKING ABOUT WHILE THE DANCE OFF HAS STARTED. STANDING IS ALLOWED.

8. ANYONE OUT OF THERE AREA AND NOT PRESENT WHEN THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ON STAGE MAY RESULT IN A FORFEIT TO THE OTHER DANCER.

9. REMEMBER, THIS IS A FRIENDLY COMPETITION, THERE WILL BE NO ARGUMENTS OF THE JUDGES RULINGS OR IF YOU WERE ELIMINATED, NEXT WEEK COME BACK HITTING HARDER THAN BEFORE TO WIN.

10. IF SWAGGER IT OUT IS TO BE HELD WE DON’T NEED ANY DISTRACTIONS OR LOSS OF TIME BECAUSE WE WERE BEING HELD UP WITH SOMEONE’S STUPIDITY BACKSTAGE. WATCH AND WAIT FOR YOUR TURN TO DANCE!!!!
